Holmesglen Collection of Contemporary Art.
Visitors to Hemisphere Conference Centre & HOTEL can enjoy a selection of contemporary art works displayed throughout the restaurant, boardroom and other public spaces. Since 2004, through the establishment and ongoing support of a growing collection of contemporary Australian art, Holmesglen has endeavoured to improve the cultural amenity of its community whilst providing a unique forum in which wider discussion and thought about contemporary Australian art is actively encouraged.
Holmesglen’s collection is comprised of exemplary works by some of Australia's foremost contemporary artists. It includes painting, sculpture, ceramics and works on paper. Outstanding examples of work by current students and staff are also acquired. An annual program of public lectures provides visitors to Holmesglen and Hemisphere with the opportunity to meet some of the artists represented in the collection and to learn more about contemporary artistic practice in an informal setting.
Melbourne collectors Peter and Jennifer McMahon have also generously loaned pieces from their outstanding collection to Holmesglen and several paintings by artists such as Dick Watkins, Ann Thomson and Churchill Cann sit alongside recent acquisitions by Holmesglen from Donald Moko, Fiona Murphy and Leonard Brown.
